It has been 2 years since the start of fourletterstory and the journey has been no less than awesome-ness. fourletterstory has gone on to reached new depths and heights we never thought possible or could had ever imagine with the band.

We hope that you had enjoyed our songs or the shows put on for you through the last couple of years. However, fourletterstory is not confined to the five guys in the band. It is bigger than that. And as we continue on this endeavour in telling stories through our music, we urge that you will be also apart of the band. We can't do this alone.

There is no auditions to play this part, only enthusiasm and excitement. fourletterstory welcomes you to join us.

We had a long weekend playing at 3 Fete de la Musique gigs around town. We have decided to cancel the Penang gig due to some change in plans. However, things has been working out for the band.

We'll be playing at the Fête de la musique (French Music Fest) in KL on Saturday (21.06.08) at 6.30pm. We will truly appreciate if you could come down and lend some support. We'll be playing our new track 'Goodbye Ordinary', for the first time at a show.

This blog has not been active since February and contrary to the blog, the band has been in and out of the studio and have been taking some time out for some recording.

We're gonna come back with a kick-butt recording and also pay a visit to the French Music Fest.

Yup, you've got that right! Switchfoot will be playing in Msia, and we are all gonna be there! The wonderful boys in Altered Frequency will be opening alongside Love Me Butch, and it's gonna be pretty crazy!

fourletterstory has already started recording our stuffs, and hope to get our materials out real soon. With one possible show in February and a Switchfoot show early that month, February has all of us shouting already!

the story told

Here you go as promised, the story of our trip to 'IPOH'.

The band had played its first corporate event-gig at Ipoh. 10 songs in 2 hours. The Puri brothers rushed back to KL right after. Yeah, we didn't even get a group hug. The event ended around 11pm, and the four of us headed on towards grabbing a much-deserved midnight snack to compliment the pats on our backs. We were graced by the presence of four lovely young ladies who gladly joined us for a bite & a li'l chat. One thing led to another and we....went on our separate ways.

Seriously.

The journey back to Nic's place was about 30mins, gassed with an uncontrollable amount of laughter. Not a drop of alcohol, just sheer bliss. As we pulled up the front of Nic's house, his front gate wasn't functioning and he directed us towards the back entrance. As I steered into towards the back gate, an unidentified car pulled up right beside us.

Two men got down and one of them came up to my window. As I screened one quarter of the window down, he said "Police, show me your licence & ID." Caught off-guard, I took time to process the entire situation while reaching for my wallet. Philip, being extra cautious, asked the guy for his Police ID again, to which the guy hastily refuses and said, "Get out of the vehicle."

No way. A robbery? No one's gonna take our instruments and the fresh funds away from us. "They're not cops. Go, go..run!" Philip cried, activating the ALARMS in all of our heads. I hit the reverse gear and steered backwards. Cars were parked on my left and right. "God, don't let us crash. Get us out!"

As I reversed, the guy tried to grab hold of the doors. Failed. He then went for the side-view mirror. It flipped around. Great, now I can't see the back! I reversed frantically down the windy road, swerving past stationed vehicles when suddenly, the other man stepped in front and reached towards his belt.

I froze.

Philip: "What are you doing? Go! Go!"
[I silently watched as he pulled it out of its holster]
Nic : "He's got a gun! He's got a GUN!"
Jason Gan : [Prays aloud hitting every possible key with his vocal chords]

I wasn't about to find out if he was going to pull the trigger. I hit the accelerator as hard as I could. The engine roared, the tires screeched but we weren't moving! "God! You gotta get us out of here!" The gear kicked in. We screeched our way out, catching a glimpse of the two men jumping into their vehicle, coming after us.

Jason was praying as loud as ever, Philip shouting, "They're coming, Go! Go!" , and Nic was navigating at the top of his lungs, "Left, right...left" as we headed out of the area, moving towards the freeway. We sped past red lights, leading towards the highway.

The now-identifiable Honda Civic emerged on our tail.

Philip: "They're still behind us. Go! Go!"
Jason: "Head back to KL! Go!"
Nic Chin: "Go to the Police Station."

*Bingo.

Me : Where's the police station?
Nic: "U turn!"
Philip: "U turn! Here!"
Jason: [Praying fervently]
Me: "I can't turn here. We're going too fast, it's too near."

We headed on toward the next possible U-Turn, I hit the brakes, made a swift turn and jammed right on the accelerator. The Honda Civic was hot on our tail. I hit the accelerator harder.

Nic: "Police Station - left"
Phil: [Echoes 'Left']
Me: Here?
Nic: "No! Next Left"
Philip: "Go! Go! They're right behind us!"
Jason: "Shucks, Go!"

We whiz past the first left. It was a Catholic Church, not a police station! I took the next left turn and headed down the road. There it was .. the Police Station. This was it. "If they were really cops, they'd follow us in..if not, they'd just drive by."

I turned in and glanced at the rear view mirror - and in they came! I parked the car. As Phil, Nic and Jason rushed into the station, I had it in my head that...they were indeed cops. I beefed myself up for a punch. What's a few bruises compared to being robbed, I consoled myself.

The now-obvious-mr.policeman gets out of his vehicle and rushes toward me.

Cop: Why did you run? What were you doing?
Me: I thought you were robbers. I didn't see your ID clearly and you weren't in your uniform. You weren't in a police car either. I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I didn't know. I really didn't
know.
Cop: Get into the station now.

I walk with him into the station, joining the rest(Phil,Jason and Nic). From the receptionist's face, we had brought chaos to the li'l town. The radio transmission reporting that the "runaway vehicle and suspects have reported in" was enough to stir a "gulp" in our throats. Uh-oh.

We were directed to the Narcotics Department, a block away. The officers searched our vehicle thoroughly. They had our full cooperation. They found nothing, as expected. We were then told to go upstairs into the interrogation room for further questioning.

One look at the place...We didn't like it. It was pitch black, and we were directed upstairs by a torchlight.

"God save us."

In the room, we were questioned on our jobs, our business in Ipoh and why we had reacted the way we did. We then apologetically explained that we had suspected they were robbers, and being scared, we fled for our lives.

Convinced we were telling the truth, and it had all been a MAJOR misundertanding, they released us and decided not to press charges against them with the agreement that we would do the same. By golly, I wanted to give them a hug and snap pictures with them right there and then!

There you have it. A story with cops, guns, screeching tires, red lights, pumping adrenaline and chaos; and yet..no bad guys. To Big Daddy Upstairs, You're the Author and Finisher of our faith; all glory to You!

The band just got back from a show in Ipoh, the land with the abundance of chicken rice, and wife biscuits! The show went well, and the band had a blast in Ipoh. We came back with too many stories for our friends, and just one too many times of repetition of the same story; with each time told more dramatic than the last. After Joel have gotten it all penned down, we will share our experience with you. Least to say, it was a near death experience for a bunch of us.

Anyway, we would just take this time to thank some good folks that had made the ipoh show possible;

Joevy and Loevy for the kind invite. Uncle and Aunty Beh for being hospitable. Ashley and the good bunch at FGA Ipoh for receiving us with open arms; you guys rock! May and Diana for the awesome duets. Benji for sessioning with us when we could not find our drum boy. The good folks at BP Health that we hoped were entertained. The Kampar District Police Force for giving us a heck of a nite filled with insane car chases, and not detaining us afterwards. And to God for keeping us alive and kicking.

The band will be heading to the studio for recording real soon. That is all for now. Till our next session of mamak, and another round of story telling, have youself an awesome start to a great 2008!

Wow, we've just finish 3 shows for the 'Tailor made man' play. It has been a fantastic journey being able to contribute to the play, and getting such overwhelming responses.

The band would like to thank the good folks at Lightbulb Productions of The Acts Church for supporting and allowing us to contribute our music. We love ya'll!

Thanks also to our family and friends that came by and supported us, we love you! And to the amazing bunch of you that shamelessly came up to us and acknowledge us, we thank you so much for appreciating our music.

It has indeed been an amazing journey for fourletterstory in 2007, and what a closure for the year!

On to bigger and better things next year. Watch out for our anticipated EP that will be released in 2008, and our upcoming shows!

it's that season again

Hey boys and girls,

Yet again we could not find the time to update the blog. What can we say; we're pretty busy blokes. We were pretty much in and out of the studio writing, perfecting, and getting ready for our coming christmas show.

We were given the opportunity to contribute our music pieces to a christmas musical play called; The Tailor Made Man. We'll be playing some of our new stuff this time round and the boys are all jumping ecstatically at the chance. This christmas musical is produced by the fine people at The Acts Church, and our fellow boys in Army of Three and Oneted will be also contributing for this show.

Everyone hates an un-updated blog

Hey folks,

The broken leg guitarist is getting better, while the rest of us are still pretty
much either mentally challenged, or physically not-able. Fortunately, that did not
stop the flow of writing and creating music.

Our new song is almost done, and with just alittle more touch and kick, it'll
be simply fantastic. It's working title 'Tomorrow starts today' would most
likely hold on its triumph, and overcome the other over-creative song titles
that will wage war against it.

Anyhow, everyone in the band is still breathing, and awaiting Oct, inwhich the
inevitable band-getaway takes place. A possible gig may come up around the corner,
thus keep those eyes and fingers tune in for updates.

Hey folks. The band has been extremely busy, and spending little
time in the studio. Sadly, we had to turn down 2 invitations to
play, due to a broken leg and other matters.

None-the-less, we're back to writing and creating different sounds,
while spending more time to develope our individual taste for the
band.

We'll be back with a ding soon. We just didn't like coming back loud.

It has been a busy last-couple-of-weeks for everyone in the band.
Our show at KL Jam Asia went well, but too quickly perhaps.

We will be stayin in the studio for the next couple of weeks to
work on new materials.

Non-the-less, we will be playin a short show for 2015 tomorrow.

Campus Party was great, buzzling with 300 or more boys
and girls all pumped up. It was a fun show, and we appreciate
those good folks at CampusCity that invited us for their first
party.

To more bigger things, our next show is scheduled on Thursday.

A bunch of us were delighted to help out with the promo video

Wassup people. This is a shout-out to various people that came and
supported our inaugural gig! fourletterstory would like to thank
emmanuel, the acts guys, and the bunch of cool people that
screamed for us.

It was an awesome gig, and we look forward to our next gig on the
22nd of April. It has yet to be confirmed, but the nice folks at
CampusCity seems enthusiastic for us to play at their CampusCity
Nite, and so are we.

We will also be playing next at KL Jam Asia, along side Silent Scenery,
Azyml Yunor, Ask Me Again, and Lightcraft, in the upcoming
'Tell Your Boss You Had A Late Night With Your Client' gig.
This showdown happen on the 26th of April.

We are humbled by the opportunities, and the support from you
nice people. Do continue to come and support us. We need you!
We shall post the pics from our last gig once our genius nikki is
done editing what he calls 'raw files'.

And as I end this time round, I quote Joel's provocative statement;

Have you heard of the term 'Street Team'. Go and visit every
other band's website, and you'll bound to have a link that
reads 'Join the Street Team'. Not to dis the Street Team, but
Street Teams don't work here locally.

So, what we came up with to fit the rusty mould here is our own
term called 'WebbieTeam'. Don't that sound so much cooler?!
Muahahaa.

So, what must you do to be apart of this WebbieTeam? Here are
the basic requirements to join;

1. You MUST have Msn Messenger/Yahoo Messenger/ or whatever
2. You have to put the band's web-links into your PM/Nick or whatever
3. You MUST own a blog, which obviously has to be active. Blogs that
people don't read don't apply, neither do blogs that bitch about everyone.
4. You have to include the band's link into your blog.
5. You have to pledge your allegiance to the band, and die for the band if
you have to. muahaha.

If all the requirements are satisfied, there is just one more little thing to
do before you can be initiated to this WebbieTeam.

Now, for the grand finale, you MUST stand on a chair, raising your right
hand facing mid way to the sky, while your left hand holds tightly to
your ahem, left cheek of the bumbum. Then you shall repeat the below
words,

I, (your name), pledge allegiance to fourletterstory, promising to do anything,
including those that are insanely dumb for the better interest of the band.

fls are finally gonna play! And, after a one year wait, fourletterstory
are at least alittle more ready to creep out of their nest.
So, all we ask is that you be nice to us while we play,
and not scare us back to the nest.

We have been fervently doin our frequent rounds of croaking,
hand clapping, and cheering in the studio, in much preparation
for the upcomin show. That gives you much reason to support
the band, as we take on the stage. We have tried every possible
way to gain support, but it seems like nothing is working out.

So, we've come up with the best way to get all of your support!
We are offering you 1 buck each, for you to cheer us on!

We would had cheered ourselves on, if only we weren't on stage.

Darn! We are so full of nonsence. This was a failed attempt

FLS has gave birth to yet another song. The song will be played at the upcoming
gig on the 31st. We will soon upload the song onto myspace, inwhich on that
matter, our myspace is in need of much revamps. We are finding it hard to post
up pictures on myspace!! Forgive our illiteracy of myspace, but i think we are
in desperate need for a 'how to work myspace for dummies' book, or maybe a
full-on class.
